This book explains how names, especially of people and deities, were coined and written in the Phoenician language. In fact, there are no such recording - in live voice - to show us how the Phoenicians ( the Canaanites of ancient Lebanon ) pronounced their language. Their great gift to humanity, the alphabet, contained twenty-two consonants, and did not have any vowels to tell us the difference of words that have the same of letters arranged exactly in the same order. They only way we could read and understand that language was to use the context techniques together with our knowledge of similar tongues spoken in the same era. Such tongues as Aramaic, Arabic, and to a certain extent Hebrew.
